Juventus’ sporting director Fabio Paratici has said that Emre Can and Sami Kedira are not for sale and ruled out making any midfield signings in January.

Juve have slipped off the top of Serie A and their fans are desperate for new players next month but the Old Lady look unlikely to do any business in the winter transfer window and that includes selling former Liverpool midfielder Can or Khedira.

Can has had to settle for a role on the fringes under Maurizio Sarri this season – a campaign that started on a sour note after he was left out of their Champions League squad.

The German international has been linked with a Premier League return, with Juventus reportedly prepared to offer him to Manchester United to sweeten a potential deal to re-sign Paul Pogba.

And Can did little to silence the rumours with his comments to the media after Germany’s win over Northern Ireland last month.

“I’m still a Juventus player,” Corriere dello Sport (via Football Italia) quote him as saying.

“Obviously I’m not satisfied with my situation, but I’m keeping my foot on the accelerator and I give 100 percent in every training session.

“I’m trying to change my situation, no player is happy when they don’t play.

“That’s my situation in Turin right now and I’ll have to think about what makes the most sense to me over the winter.

“I certainly see myself in Turin, but the situation must change.”

However, speaking to Sky Italia this week Paratici ruled out any reinforcements for the midfield in January and said they were relying on Can and Sami Khedira.

“As I have already said several times, we have a very competitive and complete squad. We have Emre Can and we have Khedira who will come back, so we have no intention of operating on the market,” he said.

Khedira was a reported target for Arsenal over the summer, but the departure of Unai Emery may well have meant the German has dropped off the Gunners’ radar.
